The race starts and finishes at KINSMEN BEACH in conjunction with the Heart of the Rockies multisport festival. The park is located along 4th Ave in Invermere.
This out and back swim in the magical waters of Lake Windermere. Lake Windermere is warm and actually a widening of the mighty Columbia River with the headwaters located 20 kilometers south of Invermere. That said, wet suits are highly recommended.
Athletes swim the course then exit and run on beach across timing mat. Note that 2km and 5km swimmers must exit the lake and run around the cone after each lap.
1 KM Swim – one lap
2 KM Swim – two laps
5 KM Swim – five laps (wow)
Schedule Of Events
6:00 – 6:45 AM
RFID ankle timing chip will be ready for pickup. All competitors must pick up their ankle timing chip and wear it during the swim event. Our timing tent will be at the park north of the beach near the tennis courts where you can park.

Awards ceremony for top 3 overall for each distance.
Athlete Categories
Ages are based on the competitor’s age as of December 31st of the race year.
1 Km and 2 Km Swim:
Participants in the 1 Km and 2Km Swim must be 10 years or older. There are three categories each for male and female:
10-15
16-19
20+
5 Km Swim:
Participants in the 5Km Swim must be 12 years or older. There are three categories each for male and female:
12-15
16-19
20+
Escort Boats
Escort canoes and kayaks are recommended for all swimmers. Swimmers participating without an escort boat do so at their own risk! If you do not have your own escort boat, water craft can be rented from Columbia Kayak and Canoe near James Chabot Provincial Park. If you have a “Swim Buddy” (visibility floatation device), please wear it during the race. Although, Lake Windermere is relatively quiet early in the morning, there will still be limited boat traffic.
Timing
Official timed results will be posted for all distances and posted online as you cross the finish timing mat.
Cancelation or DNF
If you are unable to complete your event (or do not start the event), please inform a volunteer or race official as soon as possible, and provide your full name and assigned race number. Return your timing chip.
Spectators
Binoculars may be handy for spectators on shore and of course we suggest that you bring a camera.
Parking
At tennis courts north of Kinsmen Beach park.
Pets ARE NOT ALLOWED in the park. Park Officials will be in attendance and you will be required to remove your pets from the area.
