HEART OF THE ROCKIES OPEN WATER SWIM

Sunday July 11, 2021

1K, 2K and 5K Swim

This out and back swim in the magical waters of Lake Windermere.

Lake Windermere is warm and actually a widening of the mighty Columbia River with the headwaters located 20 kilometers south of Invermere. That said, wet suits are highly recommended.

Athletes swim the course then exit and run 100m to the timing mat on the path.  Note that 5km swimmers have an out and back segment followed by the 1km course to complete the full distance.

The race starts and finishes at James Chabot Provincial Park in conjunction with the Heart of the Rockies multisport festival. The park is located just south of the intersection at Laurier Street on 3rd Avenue and consists of large washrooms, picnic areas, and beach area with ample parking.
