Great White North Olympic Distance
Hubbles Lake is currently closed due to water quality issues. After consulting with Alberta Health and Parkland County we are unable to find a suitable swim venue for the 2021 triathlon. A bike/run format will be implemented to and from the Heritage Park Pavilion.
Bike start time 8:20am
When you arrive on race morning, park and bring your bike/run gear to the transition zone. Do not rack your bike – keep it with you for the bike start.
The single transition zone will includes racks numbered by groups (i.e. #1-#24, #25-#49, etc). Place your run gear at a position along your rack.
If you wish to warm-up you can enter in-out of parking area (do not wear a timing chip during your warm up).
Pick up your timing chip at the timing tent located by the bike start, then self-seed yourself based on cycling average speed (fastest to slowest).
Technical support will be provided on course but make sure you have the appropriate supplies in case of mechanical issues (replacement inner tube).
NEW COURSE – 10km
Your run takes you on a 2 LAP course through the town of Stony Plain and it’s trail system. From the transition zone, you head around the pavilion pond and out on 43rd Ave, turn right on 50th St and turn left on 47th Ave, follow to 45th Ave and then turn right and head to the trail system. The turnaround is located at the 2.5k mark, head back to the pavilion repeat another lap and run to your race finish!

RACE RULES AND REGULATIONS
The Great White North Triathlon follows all applicable ITU rules
There will be no drafting at The Great White North Triathlon. The draft zone is 3 meters wide by 7 meters long. This rule is strictly enforced! We have experienced drafting marshals on the bike course. If you draft, you will be caught, and if you are caught, you will be penalized.
1st offense = 4 min in the P.T.
2nd offense = 4 min in the P.T.
Allowed and highly recommended! Due to the nature of our climate, the water temperature can vary between 74 and 58 degrees Fahrenheit, therefore, it is recommended that you wear a wetsuit!
Note: We do have volunteers to help strip your wetsuit at the swim/bike transition, so please make sure that you are wearing something under your wetsuit!
Any competitor behaving in an unsportsmanlike manner will be disqualified on the spot. Our volunteers are the main reason this race is so great!
Please treat them with the utmost respect at all times, including all activities before and after the event.
